As Canadians and the North Americans celebrate another Thanksgiving – a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year and most especially for everything they have in their lives; we join them in the celebration as Thanksgiving is a daily action that must be undertaken for the numerous things we have all experienced and are experiencing.
I will like for us all to pause and consider why expressing gratitude to God is important not just Thanksgiving Day but every day. Personally, it is an expression of the goodness of God in my life as I am so thankful for God’s graciousness, steering me toward His ultimate good for my life. For years I’ve had people I admire like ‘Oprah Winfrey’ and ‘Udo Maryanne Okonjo’ advocate the power and pleasure of constantly being grateful and keeping a daily gratitude journal. I have tried to keep one for over a full decade but life just always got so busy and my daily schedule simply overwhelmed me that I had no time for any-time else.
But experiences this year so far have opened my eyes to the end of procrastination and I have decided that it can no longer be an excuse as I know for sure that appreciating whatever shows up for me in life changes my personal vibration. If I hope to maintain a grateful spirit, I must find a consistent motivation. Otherwise, my thankfulness will ebb and flow according to the current conditions around me thus I will radiate and generate more goodness for myself when I’m aware of all I have and not focusing on my have-nots. So my 2017 gratitude journal is ready for take-off.
In the meantime, I have decided to share my regular thanksgiving scriptures and why I am forever thankful.
Psalm 136:1-3Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, |
Jeremiah 30:19Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small. |
1 Chronicles 16:34Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; |
Psalm 7:17I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High. |
Psalm 69:30I will praise the name of God with a song; |
Psalm 95:2Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! |
Psalm 107:22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, |
Psalm 116:17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving |
Psalm 147:7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; |
Psalm 100:4Enter his gates with thanksgiving, |
Jeremiah 33:11Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, |
Amos 4:5Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill offerings, publish them; for so you love to do, O people of Israel!” declares the Lord GOD. |
1 Corinthians 1:4I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, |
2 Corinthians 4:15For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. |
Revelation 11:17We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, |
Revelation 7:12“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” |
So here’s to wishing an amazing Happy Thanksgiving to all my beloved US family and friends.
