Time to celebrate Yourself for Surviving 2017

783FEF6F-FA27-4FD0-BFC9-B86D294A4782Attention, attention: you’ve made it to the final week of 2017!  3 days left – wow, how time has flown. I swear it was only January 2017 a few months ago and now, we are about to enter the year of 2018…

So the question I frequently ask myself is what have I achieved this year to propel me to strive harder for 2018. It is so tempting to go from one accomplishment to the next and then spend time planning the 2018 Manifesto like I do. But yet, whilst planning the future, we tend to overlook the magical moment of the past year and all we have achieved. So please permit me to challenge you finishing off 2017 by celebrating the numerous blessings that came your way and make it a habit to constantly applaud yourself for a job well done.

Here are some simple guidelines to celebrate YOUR 2017:

Ensure to take inventory of your 2017: Ever since I grasped the importance of having 1C1A720B-6806-4F19-AE7B-295CDED0F82E
goals and creating a yearly vision board, I always ensure that every year-end, I re-evaluated my Manifesto whilst acknowledging my blessings and achievements.  First I list “Goals I achieved personally and professionally through focused effort” followed by “Goals I helped others achieve.” Next I list moments and experiences that didn’t have to happen for me  and others from a clean bill of health to making new friends. Taking the time to cheer for the many things that went right reminds us how far we have come.

Salute the Small Things: This year, I learnt to not stress the small things and just relax. Appreciating like taking the stairs at work (to improve my Fitbit game – I am competitive like that), being wise and more sensitive to others when giving feedback. Decide to start patting yourself on the back for a job well done on a daily basis (whether small or large) and give yourself the credit you deserve.

B137520F-3555-4908-995F-D5CFCEB46260Get that Bubbly ready: If like me, you are so rushed off your feet with activities. Take your time in the evening to unwind a glass of bubbly. I have discovered that I need no reason to kick off my shoes after work and celebrate with a glass of prosecco and nibbles… So the next time you are grocery shopping buy a bottle or two of bubbly. And when you have a kick-ass day or good news come your way, pop it open. Life is a gift we unpack each day. Take every opportunity to clap and raise a glass.

Celebrate with a Birthday Bash: This year, I decided to celebrate my 45th birthday with a special dinner of close friends. Yea, it kinda broke the bank but I decided (after a year of bereavements) that I need to enjoy each birthday that I am given as it is worth celebrating. My 2018 birthday event is already being planned to commemorate the miracle that is ME doing an exciting activity with people I love.

Look How Far You’ve Come: You may not be where you want to be just yet, but hey,
B30CF8B6-57AB-4FAF-A12A-6CFA9C729A31you are not where you used to be. Look back at the beginning of 2017 and previous years and see the difference you have made in growth – spiritually, mentally, financially, emotionally and physically. Go back and connect with the person you once were. The think how proud they will be of you now.

Now go get ready to usher YOUR 2018 with a bang and excitement.

Happy 2018 Beloveds….
