Yesterday was #WorldMentalHealthDay, which is a cause very dear to my heart. This year’s focus was on Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World.
Young people are spending most of their day on the internet – experiencing cyber crimes, cyberbullying, and playing violent video games. Suicide and substance abuse numbers have been steadily rising, LGBTQ youth are feeling alone and persecuted for being true to themselves and young adults are at the age when serious mental illnesses can occur and yet they are taught little to nothing about mental illness and wellbeing. Mental ill health often starts in young adulthood. It’s vital that we give young people access to the support they need to grow up happy, healthy and resilient..
Thus, it is very important to help or encourage them to improve their emotional mental health by surrounding themselves with positive relationships. We as humans feed off companionships and interaction with other people.
And this is a KEY FACTOR on their journey to a Better Health.
